Cassidy Paris in Brazil: A Night of Hard Rock, Charisma, and Attitude at La Iglesia
Australian singer Cassidy Paris arrived in Brazil for an intimate show at La Iglesia, in Pinheiros, São Paulo. I had the opportunity to experience it all up close on a night that brought together fans, musicians, and that underground atmosphere we love so much.
My first impression was of the venue itself. La Iglesia has a very distinctive look, blending religious references with underground culture. Among the details that catch your eye are a large depiction of Ozzy Osbourne and a payment counter that looks more like a confessional booth. It's an authentic place, almost a sanctuary for rock icons, full of personality and the kind of atmosphere that makes any rock lover feel right at home.
The Road to Metal team and I arrived early, and little by little, the crowd started to show up. I quickly ran into some familiar faces, while other fans greeted each other like old friends. One thing that caught my attention was the age difference between the audience and the artist. I'd affectionately describe the crowd as “not exactly young” (laughs), while Cassidy is only 23. It was a meeting of generations that proves good old hard rock has no age limit!
Before the show, we had the chance to chat with the band members, who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We also met Cassidy, who made a point of greeting everyone waiting for her. I got a photo with her, and during our conversation, she asked my name. When she found out it was Michelle, she smiled and excitedly told me that her mother has the same name. It was a small detail, but it made that encounter even more special. After all, it's lovely to discover that behind the artist we admire onstage is someone who can turn a brief meeting into a warm memory.
Smoking Kobra: A Pleasant Surprise!
The opening act was Smoking Kobra, a São Paulo-based band formed earlier this year, featuring Rodrigo Grecco on vocals, Rodrigo Flausino on guitar, Ricardo Flausino on bass, and Olavo Oliveira on drums.
With original songs in Portuguese and a sound rooted in hard rock, with strong '90s influences, these guys surprised me. I have to admit I wasn't familiar with their work, so I went in without any major expectations. I'm glad I did!
Their musical quality caught my attention right away. The band kept the audience engaged while everyone eagerly awaited the headliner, proving they were there to do much more than simply warm up the crowd.
Rodrigo Grecco also deserves a mention. Completely at ease onstage, he chatted with the audience, cracked jokes, and got plenty of laughs. His interaction with the crowd made everything more relaxed and helped set the perfect mood for the night.
I left with that great feeling of having discovered an interesting band. I'd definitely see them again!
Cassidy Paris: Born to Be on Stage!
The show started about 15 minutes late, and apparently, two songs ended up being cut from the setlist. But honestly? Once Cassidy stepped onstage, none of that mattered anymore. What a show, my friends!
She had already won me over with her friendliness, but watching her perform gave me an even better sense of her strength as an artist. Cassidy seems to be exactly where she belongs: in front of an audience, guitar in hand, with energy to spare.
She sings, dances, plays guitar, chats with the crowd, and even interacts with people taking photos or filming. And she does it all with impressive naturalness.
What struck me most was her expressiveness. Cassidy holds nothing back and is far from the kind of performer who simply goes through the motions. She kicks, dances, sings right in the middle of the crowd, and throws herself onto the floor. She's got the sensuality, attitude, style, and just the right amount of craziness you'd expect from a true rock star!
What's even more interesting is the contrast with her personality offstage. All that intensity comes with a sweetness and warmth that make her even more captivating. She can be bold and explosive during the show, yet affectionate and approachable when meeting her fans.
Another thing I really liked was how much she cared about communicating with the audience. Cassidy joked about her Australian accent and offered to speak more slowly if anyone had trouble understanding her. At another point, she promised to learn Portuguese so she could communicate better with her Brazilian fans on her next visit.
It might seem like a small gesture, but these are the things that make a difference. She wasn't there just to perform her songs; she also wanted to connect with the people who had come to see her.
An Outstanding Band and Incredible Chemistry
The band also delivered an excellent performance! With experienced musicians like Pete Newdeck on drums and Fred Hale on bass, Cassidy was in very good hands.
Another highlight was her chemistry with her father, Steven Janevski, who handles lead guitar. Cassidy takes care of rhythm guitar, showing that her talent goes far beyond her vocals and stage presence.
It's great to see that father-daughter partnership working so well. Their musical connection is obvious, but Cassidy maintains her own identity and leads the show with a personality all her own.
At just 23, she already displays confidence, charisma, and impressive stage command. She has attitude, knows how to connect with the audience, and delivers a performance that holds your attention from beginning to end.
From New Sensation to Bittersweet: Energy and Maturity
The setlist featured songs from both of Cassidy's studio albums: New Sensation (2023) and Bittersweet (2025).
The debut has a rawer edge that perfectly matches Cassidy's explosive live energy. Bittersweet, on the other hand, reveals a more mature artist, exploring different musical and emotional nuances without losing those memorable choruses and infectious melodies that make you want to sing along.
As part of the Finished What We Started tour, the São Paulo performance struck a great balance between these two phases. There were powerful guitars, catchy melodies, and plenty of energy to go around.
The night opened with “Walking on Fire,” one of the highlights of New Sensation, followed by “Stronger.” To close things out, “Watch the Fire” brought the intensity you'd expect from a great hard rock show.
The setlist showcased different sides of Cassidy while preserving everything that makes the genre so special: killer riffs, catchy choruses, and plenty of attitude. It's the kind of show that reminds you why we're still so in love with good old rock 'n' roll.
A Night That Left Me Wanting More
Before I knew it, the show was over. You know that feeling when everything goes by too quickly because you're genuinely enjoying every moment? That's exactly how it felt.
Luckily, I had another chance to meet Cassidy. I asked her to sign my copy of Bittersweet and, once again, she welcomed me with so much warmth. She hugged me, thanked me, and we took a few more photos. At one point, she was the one who asked for another picture, and in the last one, she even kissed me on the head. (Laughs.)
Yes, Cassidy certainly knows how to win over her fans!
I left La Iglesia with a fantastic impression. I found an artist with talent, personality, strong vocal skills, instrumental ability, and a stage presence that exceeded my expectations. But above all, I met someone who combines all the attitude of a rock star with the down-to-earth nature of someone who genuinely wants to connect with people.
I believe Cassidy still has a long road ahead of her and everything it takes to earn an even bigger place in the hard rock scene.
And I found myself thinking about how special it is to experience moments like these: being so close to the artist, watching an intimate show, exchanging a few words, getting an autograph, and holding on to little memories from a night that might mean even more in the future.
Because every great name in rock has a beginning. And sometimes, we're lucky enough to be there while the story is still being written.
That night, between guitars, hugs, and choruses, I couldn't shake the feeling that Cassidy Paris's future could be so much bigger than that small stage.
And who knows? Maybe years from now, when her name echoes across bigger and bigger stages, I'll look back and smile, remembering that night at La Iglesia, when rock 'n' roll still felt close enough to touch.
Because some nights end when the lights go down. Others keep playing inside us long after the music fades.
