Sérgio Baloff escolheu uma data muito propícia para o lançamento do novo álbum: 6/6/26, bem em um feriado cristão, para mandar um grande foda-se a todas as religiões do globo terrestre, a começar pela espetacular capa do disco. É por isso e por tantas outras conquistas e audácias que o Headhunter D.C. é o maior representante do Death Metal no Nordeste.
Desde 1987, a banda é reverenciada em um alto pilar ao lado de Sarcófago, Vulcano, Dorsal Atlântica, Sepultura, Mutilator, Overdose, Chakal e The Mist, entre outros nomes que compõem esse patrimônio histórico do underground nacional e internacional. O novo álbum, “Rise of the Damned...”, celebra 40 anos de sangue e luta em uma cena que resiste fortemente no país. Trata-se do sexto álbum da carreira, sucedendo ...In Unholy Mourning... (2012), encerrando uma espera de 14 anos por material inédito.
O disco carrega tudo o que foi construído nessas últimas quatro décadas: Death Metal Old School. Lançado pela Mutilation Records, o trabalho apresenta uma produção acima da média, com gravação sólida e cada composição dedicada a cultuar a agressividade sem abrir mão da técnica.
Há também uma clara preocupação em agradar os ouvintes mais saudosistas: riffs marcantes, peso constante e passagens bem construídas que mantêm a identidade da banda do início ao fim.
Algo que sempre diferenciou o Headhunter D.C. é justamente essa capacidade de criar álbuns que os próprios integrantes, como cultuadores do estilo, gostariam de ouvir. Sem contar os vocais de Sérgio Baloff, extremamente entregues à maldade, à desgraça e à calamidade, elevando ainda mais o nível do disco aos seus 54 anos de idade.
Entre os destaques está “Unblessed by the Unsacred”, que entrega mais de seis minutos de hostilidade sem soar saturada, com solos muito bem encaixados, especialmente na parte final. Em “No Salvation from Above”, surge uma fusão que remete a Vader, Monstrosity e Deicide — influências perceptíveis ao longo de todo o álbum.
Na sequência, “Burn the Book of Lies” figura entre as melhores faixas do trabalho, com um refrão certeiro e memorável. Depois vêm “Gospel of Doom”, “The Dysangelist”, “One Thousand Apocalypses”, “Praeludium ad Ascensionem Haereticorum” — excelente instrumental que faz a transição para “Rise of the Damned” —, “Possessed, Obsessed” (totalmente Deicide) e, para fechar, “In Death Metal We Trust”, uma verdadeira aula de Death Metal.
É um encerramento digno, honesto e brutal para celebrar os 40 anos do Headhunter D.C., deixando um legado tanto para os veteranos quanto para as futuras gerações do underground e do metal da morte.

Sérgio Baloff chose a very fitting date for the release of the new album: 06/06/26, right during a cristian holiday , to send a massive “fuck you” to every religion on the planet, starting with the album’s spectacular cover artwork. It is for this and so many other achievements and audacious moves that Headhunter D.C. stands as the greatest representative of Death Metal in Northeastern Brazil.
Since 1987, the band has been revered on a lofty pedestal alongside Sarcófago, Vulcano, Dorsal Atlântica, Sepultura, Mutilator, Overdose, Chakal, and The Mist, among other names that make up the historical heritage of both the Brazilian and international underground scenes. The new album, *Rise of the Damned...*, celebrates 40 years of blood and struggle within a scene that continues to resist and thrive in the country. It is the sixth full-length album of the band's career, following *...In Unholy Mourning...* (2012) and bringing an end to a 14-year wait for new material.
The record carries everything that has been built over the last four decades: pure Old School Death Metal. Released by Mutilation Records, the album features production that rises above the average, with a solid recording quality and compositions dedicated to worshipping aggression without sacrificing technical proficiency. There is also a clear concern for pleasing longtime fans: memorable riffs, relentless heaviness, and well-crafted passages that preserve the band's identity from beginning to end.
What has always set Headhunter D.C. apart is precisely this ability to create albums that the members themselves, as devoted followers of the genre, would want to listen to. Not to mention Sérgio Baloff’s vocals, utterly committed to evil, misery, and calamity, elevating the album even further at 54 years of age.
Among the highlights is “Unblessed by the Unsacred,” which delivers more than six minutes of hostility without ever feeling excessive, featuring exceptionally well-placed guitar solos, especially in its closing section. On “No Salvation from Above,” listeners will find a fusion reminiscent of Vader, Monstrosity, and Deicide— influences that can be felt throughout the entire album.
Next comes “Burn the Book of Lies,” one of the album’s finest tracks, driven by a sharp and memorable chorus. It is followed by “Gospel of Doom,” “The Dysangelist,” “One Thousand Apocalypses,” “Praeludium ad Ascensionem Haereticorum”—an excellent instrumental piece that transitions into “Rise of the Damned”—“Possessed, Obsessed” (completely Deicide-inspired), and finally “In Death Metal We Trust,” a true masterclass in Death Metal.
It is a worthy, honest, and brutal conclusion to celebrate Headhunter D.C.’s 40-year journey, leaving behind a legacy for both veteran fans and future generations of the underground and death metal scenes.
