O dia 27/04 marcou a capital
gaúcha pelo encontro histórico entre os vocalistas U.D.O. (ex-Accept) e Tim
Owens (ex-Judas Priest). Tim retornava ao RS depois de 6 anos de sua última
passagem e retornava ao Bar Opinião depois de 22 anos quando se apresentou ao
lado do Judas em 2001.
Já o Metal Heart U.D.O. debutava
em solo gaúcho e os fãs estavam fervorosos por esse encontro, já que para
muitos ele é o próprio Accept.
Com um ótimo público presente,
pontualmente as 21h as luzes se apagam e Tim ‘Ripper’ inicia seu show de forma
espetacular, já que o set em questão seria apenas de clássicos do Judas Priest,
tanto de sua Era como da de Halford, e nada melhor que “Metal Gods” iniciar os
trabalhos e levantar o público!
Logo em seguida tivemos a
clássica pergunta de Tim: “What's my name”? E todos já sabiam que “The Ripper”
daria as caras de forma magistral. Assim como “Burn In Hell” (que pertence a
sua fase com o Judas no incrível “Jugulator” – 97) veio em um clima apocalíptico
sendo um dos melhores momentos do show e mostrando que Tim Owens segue em ótima
forma vocal, com seus agudos estridentes incrivelmente altos e afinados.
Um set especial ao Judas Priest
não poderia faltar a emblemática “Painkiller” e que vale destacar a excelente
banda de apoio (que tiveram a árdua missão de ser de ambos os vocalistas)
formada por: Wagner Rodrigues e Johnny Moraes (Hevilan) nas guitarras e Fabio
Carito (baixo) e Marcus Dotta (bateria), tocando fielmente cada nota e deixando
o clima ainda mais arrebatador.
“Hell Is Home” de sua época com “Demolition”
(01) deu as caras e sendo uma das melhores músicas do Judas até hoje, mas
negligenciada pela banda após a saída de Owens. Assim como “One On One”,
levantando a galera e ressaltando a importância de sua época na banda britânica.
Tivemos ainda “Hell Bent For
Leather” e o encerramento com a clássica “Electric Eye”. Ainda aos gritos dos
presentes de: “Ripper, Ripper, Ripper” o mesmo anuncia que agora é a hora do
U.D.O. e o baixinho entra em cena para delírio dos fãs ávidos por sua passagem
pelo Accept.
“Starlight” abre os caminhos para deixar o público alvoroçado e cantando a plenos pulmões e sem tempo para
respirar: “Living For Tonight”, “Midnight Mover” e “Breaker” chegam como um
furacão e lavam as almas dos fanáticos pela sua fase de ouro na banda alemã (me
incluo neles!).
O carisma e a simples presença de
palco do baixinho é contagiante e com poucas palavras ganha os fãs, até mesmo
quando cometeu uma pequena “gafe” dizendo que era um prazer estar retornando a
Porto Alegre, sendo que o mesmo nunca tinha tocado aqui, mas nada que
estragasse um momento tão mágico e único de assisti-lo. Para na sequência irmos
as lágrimas com “Princess Of The Dawn”, “Fast As a Shark” e “Metal Heart”!
Finalizando obviamente com seu
maior clássico: “Balls To The Wall”. Para fechar com chave de Metal, U.D.O.
chama ao palco Tim ‘Ripper’ e ambos nos proporcionam mais dois clássicos do
Judas, as batidas, mas não menos empolgantes, “Breaking The Law” e “Living After
Midnight”.
O som estava satisfatório, com alguns pequenos problemas que foram ajustados no decorrer, mas nada que estragasse o espetáculo. A iluminação de certa forma também satisfatória, mas o excesso de luzes vermelhas e gelo seco estraga a visão até mesmo de quem está assistindo, agora imagina para os fotógrafos. Fica a dica.
Uma noite dedicada aos clássicos
em Porto Alegre que valeu cada segundo.
O The Three Tremors surgiu da vontade de Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (Cage, Denner/Shermann, Death Dealer, Warrior) em tornar realidade uma antiga especulação ou lenda urbana, de um projeto que reuniria três grandes vozes do Heavy Metal tradicional, seriam os "Três Tremores" (sendo o nome um trocadilho com os Três Tenores) Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford e Dio ou Geoff Tate. Sean então buscou os companheiros ideiais para construir essa usina de puro heavy metal, e os nomes de Tim "Ripper Owens" (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Malmsteen, Charred Walls of Damned) e Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin (Jag Panzer, Titan Force, Satan's Host) foram os primeiros da lista, e estes compraram e incorporaram a ideia.
A próxima tarefa seria então começar a compor o álbum de estreia da banda, e agora neste início de 2019, o debut autointitulado acaba de ser lançado, e os Três Tremores estão prontos para levar o Heavy Metal em sua pura essência aos Metal Heads do todo o mundo, em petardos atemporais trazendo o que o estilo apresenta de melhor! Confira a conversa que tivemos com Sean e Harry para saber mais da banda e o que eles nos reservam!
RtM: Sean, quando você decidiu fazer sua versão de The Three Tremors inspirada na "lenda urbana" ou especulação de anos atrás, que características você achou que seriam necessárias para os músicos que formariam este projeto?
Sean Peck: Bem, é claro que eu queria que dois dos melhores cantores de metal da história do gênero estivessem envolvidos, e acho que consegui os melhores caras que existem. Harry e Tim são cantores extremamente poderosos, e podem esmagar qualquer outra pessoa. Eu canto com eles ao vivo todas as noites, confie em mim, eu sei, eles são incríveis. Também ajuda que eles realmente gostem da banda. Nós nos tornamos um grupo fechado.
RtM: Harry, quando você recebeu o convite para fazer parte dos T3, como foi sua reação, e o que você imaginou para o grupo?
Harry Conklin: Minha reação inicial foi ótima! Eu adoraria fazer parte disso. Não imaginei. Só sabia que seriamos ótimos juntos e teríamos uma boa química.
RtM: Sean, conte-nos sobre os contatos iniciais com Harry e Tim, e qual foi a reação deles quando você falou sobre a ideia do projeto?
Sean Peck: Tim foi o primeiro cara que eu falei sobre isso, e em nossa primeira conversa ele já estava totalmente envolvido. Eu estava realmente animado que ele concordou imediatamente em estar na banda. Eu não tinha as música prontas ainda, então foi um ano ou dois antes de realmente começarmos a gravar. O Harry eu encontrei em uma festa na Alemanha, em 2014, e perguntei a ele sobre isso e ele estava disposto também. Nós então sabíamos que tínhamos nosso line-up pronto, daí começamos a escrever o disco. Ambos gostaram do conceito e, felizmente, acabaram gostando das músicas que escrevemos para eles.

RtM: E sobre a inspiração naquela antiga especulação que se chamaria The Three Tremors, você gostaria de ver um projeto realizado com Dickinson, Halford e Tate no futuro?
Sean Peck: Isso seria incrível. Eu pessoalmente gostaria que eles conseguissem outra pessoa no lugar do Tate, se eu pudesse fazer do meu jeito ha! Seria ótimo se isso de alguma forma os motivasse a fazer sua versão dos Três Tremores e pudéssemos fazer uma turnê como os seis Tremores! Mas, sério, o que temos agora é uma versão americana da ideia e é a única versão. Essa é a razão pela qual fizemos isso, para torná-la real e realizar a profecia, principalmente para os fãs de metal.
Harry Conklin: Não me importo com isso no momento. Eles tiveram a chance de brilhar agora, é nossa !!
RtM: No release do álbum, enviado pela assessoria de imprensa, há um comentário seu de que a versão atual do T3 terá sucesso onde a versão original falhou. Que fatores você vê como trunfos e sucessos do projeto atual e em que a ideia original falhou e acabou não se tornando uma realidade?
Sean Peck: Bem, se essas lendas fizessem isso acontecer, sem dúvida, seria bem sucedido, todos, incluindo eu, gostariam de ver isso. Harry e eu somos músicos bem menos conhecidos, o que é óbvio, então estamos começando como uma nova banda do zero. Eu estava me referindo ao fato de que eles não completaram a missão devido a uma variedade de razões.
Uma delas foi o pensamento de que simplesmente seria muito difícil do ponto de vista de composição e produção musical, e é algo que neste ponto eu entendo. Foi uma jornada muito longa e difícil para chegar a este ponto, e isso exigiu muito trabalho. Estamos super animados com os resultados, então valeu a pena. O fato de que se dizia que a tarefa em si era um fator que dificultou os antigos metal godz a não a completarem, foi outra coisa que nos levou à linha de chegada.
Harry Conklin: Eu não tenho todos os fatos sobre a formação original de anos atrás. Dickinson, Tate, Halford nunca lançaram um álbum. O CD dos 3 Tremors é todo original e fresco. Temos um produto e uma banda (músicos do Cage) para apoiar nosso empreendimento. Até agora nada falhou. É tudo de bom. O benefício para os fãs é ver grandes talentos de cada um de nós!
Somos TODOS Metalheads e nos divertimos trazendo essas músicas incríveis para as pessoas
RtM: E como foi o processo de composição? E como vocês planejaram em como as partes de cada um seriam divididas nas músicas?
Sean Peck: A banda (formada por músicos do Cage) e eu escrevemos as músicas e mandamos a Harry e Tim uma versão completa das faixas. Os dois então cantaram uma versão completa e depois nós começamos a montá-las. Depois de ouvir cada versão tipo umas 100 vezes, eu criava um layout que eu achava que soaria melhor e que acabou funcionando muito bem. Eu escrevi todas as letras e melodias vocais, Tim e Harry adicionaram seu estilo pessoal, e os resultados foram fantásticos.
Harry Conklin: As músicas estavam todas terminadas. Fui adicionando o meu estilo às músicas com diferentes harmonias ou efeitos. Nós 3 cantamos cada música na íntegra (vocais principais, harmonia, arranjos), depois cada parte foi mixada pelo produtor e depois ouvida antes das edições finais.
RtM: Eu acredito que, pensando em como seriam as versões ao vivo, foi muito trabalhoso em se tratando de compor e arranjar as músicas do álbum.
Sean Peck: Bem, nós deixamos de fora a performance ao vivo na maneira de como o álbum foi arranjado. Nós fazemos algumas adições, e é legal, porque faz cada show um pouco diferente. Foi uma quantidade enorme de trabalho para realmente acertar o álbum. Dave Garcia, o guitarrista, fez um ótimo trabalho misturando o disco e é legal e balanceado.

RtM: Alguma das músicas em particular exigiu mais de vocês em termos de alcance ou técnica vocal?
Sean Peck: Sim, nós fizemos as músicas de modo que tivessem grandes ganchos, e levando-as além do topo, vocalmente falando, onde fazia sentido. Para qualquer um que queira ouvir alguns berros dos mais poderosos, este álbum será prazeroso. Este é o ponto principal. Ripper fez algumas coisas que me impressionaram. Eu nunca tinha ouvido ele fazer algumas coisas como as que ele fez neste álbum. Ele realmente me surpreendeu. Harry fez a mesma coisa incrível. Eu tenho alguns dos meus melhores trabalhos também lá. Eu mandei as faixas para os caras seguirem e eu não facilitei em nada para eles ha!! Canções como "When the Last Screm Fades", "Speed to Burn", "Bullets for the Damned" e "Pit Shows no Mercy" são brutais no departamento vocal.
Harry Conklin: Não. Foi bastante desafiador sim, mas ainda assim um trabalho de amor.
RtM: Já existem várias resenhas muito positivas, essas primeiras reações lhe deram boas expectativas sobre o sucesso e a aceitação do projeto? Eu também percebi que a campanha na Pledge Music está indo muito bem.
Sean Peck: Sim, com certeza. Como vocês sabem, já tocamos 17 shows ao vivo e experimentamos a reação do público a essas músicas. Eles amaram todas as que tocamos. Os pedidos na pré venda foram incríveis demais, superando as expectativas. Os fãs estão realmente nos abraçando, e uma vez que eles o virem ao vivo, ele continuará crescendo. O fato de que é uma banda de verdade e não apenas um projeto, acho que acrescenta mais validade a ele e eles sabem que, apoiando-o, ele não vai simplesmente desaparecer um dia. Isso vai rodar por aí por algum tempo, é o que se está percebendo. Temos todos os tipos de tours e shows planejados que nos tomarão até 2021!
Harry Conklin: Sim. A campanha de pré-venda está indo muito bem e a turnê está indo bem também. Os fãs têm um show fantástico reservado para eles.
RtM: Falando um pouco sobre as músicas, temos doses generosas de Heavy Metal em sua essência pura, trazendo esse sentimento principalmente de grandes momentos dos anos 80, de lendas como Judas Priest, Maiden, Saxon etc. Em sua visão, quais elementos são essenciais para uma ótima música Heavy Metal? Eu também acredito que um dos grandes segredos é fazer músicas que você gostaria de ouvir.
Sean Peck: Eu escrevo músicas do ponto de vista de fãs de metal. Se isso me balançar e me der arrepios, então eu sei que provavelmente vai provocar o mesmo nos fãs de metal. Este álbum nós realmente fizemos rápido e thrashy. Pode até ser um pouco demais para algumas pessoas lidarem, ha !! Todas aquelas bandas que você nomeou mais coisas como WASP e Metal Church, Crimson Glory, Savatage, Agent Steel, coisas excitantes como essas realmente me motivam. Mas desse tipo de metal é onde todos os outros sub-gêneros derivam, então sim, é a essência pura como você a chama.
Harry Conklin: Batida pesada, guitarras cortantes, melodias vocais fortes e riffs super memoráveis. Todos esses elementos estão contidos no CD 3 Tremors,

RtM: Entre as músicas que se destacaram mais aos meus ouvidos estão faixas que seguem uma linha mais moderada, onde acho que as três vozes se destacam mais, como "Sonic Suicide", "When the Last Scream Fades" e "The Three Tremors", por exemplo. Eu gostaria que vocês comentassem um pouco mais sobre elas.
Sean Peck: Eu amo essas músicas. "Sonic Suicide" tem grandes ganchos e um ótimo refrão. Tem uma vibe de hard rock real e a parte do meio é muito heavy metal. "When the Last Scream Fades (Quando o último grito se desvanece) é uma música super legal. Eu amo as partes intro e outro e o resto da música é como Painkiller, com certeza. "The Three Tremors" foi a última música que escrevemos. Os riffs foram tão bons que decidimos adicionar mais uma música no álbum. Nós fechamos o show ao vivo com essa música e é a nossa música homônima, então as letras são divertidas descrevendo a jornada da banda.
Harry Conklin: Eu também gosto das musicas pesadas melódicas/lentas, mas... “The PIT” e “SPEED TO BURN” são músicas matadoras! O álbum inteiro é uma peça épica de “metal must have”.
RtM: "Wrath of Asgard" também segue um ritmo mais cadenciado, e é também uma das minhas favoritas. Tem uma atmosfera muito épica, e acredito que funcionará muito bem ao vivo. Eu gostaria que vocês falassem um pouco mais sobre essa música.
Sean Peck: Sim, essa música realmente parece ser uma das favoritas dos fãs até agora. Ela é matadora, e aquele riff principal é o tipo de material o qual os deuses do metal são feitos! Teremos um ótimo vídeo ao vivo para ela em breve. Essa música realmente faz a platéia balançar.
Harry: "Wrath of Asgard" é uma típica faixa para bater cabeça, muito "heavy" nos riffs e melodias. Os fãs adoraram essa música! Tem todos os elementos de uma ótima música heavy metal.
RtM: Entre as faixas mais rápidas, minhas favoritas são "Fly or Die", que me lembrou do "Aces High" do Maiden, incluindo o tema das letras, e "Lust of the Blade", alternando momentos rápidos com outros moderados. Ambas têm ótimos refrãos também. Eu gostaria que vocês comentasse um pouco mais sobre essas duas músicas.
Sean Peck:"Fly or Die" todo mundo está dizendo que é a "nova Aces High". Eu amo ouvir isso! Ela é muito divertida de se tocar ao vivo. Sempre me deixa aceso e empolgado. Foi legal ter a voz real do Presidente Roosevelt e seu famoso discurso lá para criar a vibe. "Lust of the Blade" realmente cresceu em mim. Essa foi uma das primeiras músicas que fizemos e eu pessoalmente gostei, mas não fiquei tão empolgado de início. Ao vivo funciona muito bem e Ripper tem aquela parte super legal no meio, onde ele diz: "Eu sou o Estripador, eles me chamam pelo nome ..." Eu sabia que escrever uma música sobre Jack The Ripper seria perfeito para essa banda!
Harry: "Fly or Die" é um trem bala. Muito excitante. Divertida de cantar e divertida para a multidão cantar junto. Pode ter uma influência de “Iron Maiden”, mas estes são os nossos heróis, então porque não? "Lust of the Blade" é muito obscura e legal, com um refrão altamente memorável, também é a música-tema de Tim de certa forma.
RtM: E sua preferência pessoal? Eu sei que pode ser difícil escolher, mas quais músicas vocês mais gostaram de cantar e acham que funcionam melhor ao vivo?
Sean Peck: Bem, eu estava muito feliz por ver que todas as músicas foram muito bem tocadas. Nós tocamos todos as 12 todas as noites. Eu realmente me divirto fazendo Fly or Die, Bullets for the Damned, Speed to Burn e Wrath of Asgard com certeza.
Harry: Todos nós temos nossas preferidas neste álbum. A minha é "The Pit Shows no Mercy".
RtM: E na sua opinião, vocês dois que estão na estrada há cerca de três décadas, em grupos como Cage e Jag Panzer, que trazem em sua sonoridade as raízes do estilo, há novos nomes bons na cena atual do Metal? Que novas bandas vocês ouviram e veem um futuro para elas?
Sean Peck: Sim, há muitas coisas legais por aí. A nova leva de bandas de speed metal e bandas de thrash metal foi realmente emocionante de ver. Bandas mais novas como THEM e STRIKER, e caras mais velhos que estão de volta como FIFTH ANGEL e FLOTSAM e JETSAM com novos álbuns, realmente mantiveram a cena viva e chutando. Há tantas bandas novas por aí para descobrir que é realmente um ótimo momento para o heavy metal.
Harry: Desculpe, não acompanho as tendências atuais nos dias de hoje.
RtM: E os últimos lançamentos de gigantes, por exemplo, como Judas Priest e Saxon, os dois lançaram álbuns mais novos, Iron Maiden e Sabbath? O que você acha? E mesmo sem membros originais, é bom para a cena que eles ainda produzam e façam shows?
Sean Peck: O novo álbum do Priest foi ótimo. O último álbum do Maiden foi apenas ok para mim. Maiden não faz um novo álbum matador fazem décadas desde que Bruce voltou, mas eles realmente não têm nada a provar, porque eles são Maiden, ha! O novo álbum do Saxon está matador e eu os vi ao vivo com o Priest e eles quebraram tudo. Eu adoraria ouvir algumas coisas novas do Tony Iommi novamente, ele é o mestre dos riffs pesados. Eu tenho ingressos para ver o Maiden em Los Angeles este ano, então sim, todos eles devem se manter em cena.
Harry: Amei a produção que esses álbuns tiveram. Eles são fantásticos e agressivos. O fato de que essas bandas ainda estão mantendo o metal forte é incrível. O álbum Three Tremors está ali junto com eles. Trazendo heavy metal tradicional para os die hards que ainda estão por aí procurando algo legal, fresco e agressivo.
RtM: E as bandas com sons mais "modernos" estão contribuindo ou apenas segregando ainda mais o estilo, servindo muito para mais interesses de mercado e tomando o espaço dos grupos com mais qualidade?
Sean Peck: Na música você tem que apenas tocar o que está no seu coração de metal e se alguém mais gostar, veja isso como um bônus. Pessoas que tentam perseguir tendências e estilos logo descobrirão o quão insatisfatório é fazer isso e uma grande perda de tempo. A qualidade na música está nos ouvidos do ouvinte e não é justo dizer o que é merda e o que não é. Acredito que este estilo de metal que nós entregamos no álbum do TheThree Tremors é um som atemporal, que daqui a 100 anos seguirá fazendo algumas cabeças balançar!
Harry: Música é uma expressão. Não tem limites. Esticar os limites da imaginação é o que importa.

RtM: Finalizando, como está a demanda por shows já? Você acha que a tour do T3 terá um amplo alcance? Pessoalmente, estou realmente ansioso para shows aqui na América do Sul, e pelo que tenho visto do interesse dos leitores no material que postei no Road to Metal e outros veículos, as chances são grandes.
Sean Peck: Sim, estamos muito animados em ir logo para aí. Uma vez que tivermos nossa agenda organizada, parece que é o primeiro da lista. Temos praticamente todos os territórios no mapa em vista e várias ofertas chegando. O show ao vivo é realmente incrível e é uma coisa super única. Os fãs sul-americanos vão adorar!

RtM: Sean, when you
decided to make your version of The Three Tremors inspired by the "urban
legend", what characteristics did you imagine would be necessary
for the musicians who would form this project?
Sean Peck: Well of course
i wanted two of the best metal singers in the history of the genre to be
involved and i think I got the best two guys that there are. Harry and Tim are supremely powerful singers
that can pretty much crush anybody else.
I sing with them live every night trust me I know, they are amazing. It also helps that they are really into the
whole band and really enjoy it. We have
become a tight group.
RtM: Harry, when you have received the invitation to make part of The Three Tremors, how was your reaction, and what did you imagine for the group?
Harry Conklin: My initial reaction was GREAT! I would love to be a part of this. Did not imagine.Just knew we would be great together and have good chemistry.
RtM: Tell us about the initial contacts with Harry and Tim, and what was their reaction when you talked about the idea of the project?
Sean Peck: Tim was the first guy I hit up about it and he was totally into it on our first conversation. I was really excited that he agreed to be in the band right away. I did not have the music together yet so it was a year or 2 before we really got serious about recording it. Harry I met up at a party in Germany in 2014, and asked him about it and he was down to do it too. We then knew we had our lineup and began writing the record. They both liked the concept and thankfully they eventually liked the songs we wrote for it.

RtM: And about the
original inspiration, would you like to see a project come true with Dickinson,
Halford and Tate in the future?
Sean Peck:That
would be amazing. I would personally
like them to get someone else besides Tate though if I could have it my way
ha! It would be great if this somehow
motivated them to do their version of the Three Tremors and we could tour as
the Six Tremors! But seriously what we
have now is an American version of the idea and it is the only version of the
idea. That is the whole reason we did it
to make it real and realize the prophecy and mainly we did it for the metal
fans.
Harry Conklin:Don’t care at this point. They had their chance to shine now it’s ours!!
RtM: In the release sent by the media consulting, there is a comment from you that the current version of T3
will succeed where the original version failed. What factors do you see as
trumps and successes of the current project, and in which the original idea
failed, and ended up not becoming a reality?
Sean Peck: Well if those
legends ever did it no doubt it would succeed, and everyone including me would want
to see that. Harry and Myself are far
lesser known musicians which goes without saying so we are starting out as
basically a new band from scratch. I was
referring to the fact that they did not actually complete the mission because of
a variety of reasons. One of them was
the thinking that it would simply be too difficult from a song writing and
production, standpoint which I can understand.
It was a very long and hard journey to get to this point and it took a
lot of work. We are super excited about
the results so it was all worth it. The
fact that it was said the task it self was a factor the old godz did not
complete it was another thing that drove us to the finish line.
Harry Conklin:I don’t have all the facts concerning the original lineup from years ago. Dickinson, Tate, Halford never released an album. The 3 Tremors CD is ALL original and fresh. We have a product and band (Cage musicians) to support our endeavor. So far nothing has failed. It’s ALL good. The benefit for the fans is seeing great talent from each of us!
We are ALL metal heads and have a lot of fun bringing these incredible songs to the people
RtM: And how was
the songwriting process? And how did you fit in how the parts of each one would
be divided into the songs?
Sean Peck: The band and I
wrote the songs and sent Harry and Tim a full version of the tracks. They both then sang a full version of their
own and we began assembling them. After
listening to each version like 100 times or so I would come up with a layout
startegy that I thought would sound the best and it really ended up working out
great. I wrote all the lyrics and vocal
melodies and Tim and Harry added their personal style touches on it and the
results were fantastic.
Harry Conklin: The songs were all finished. I just added my style to the songs some different harmonies or embellishments. We 3 sang each song in its entirety (lead, harmony, embellishments) then it was divided by the producer and then given a listen thru before the final edits.
RtM: I think that,
thinking about what the live versions would be like, it was a lot of work when
it came to composing and arranging songs from the album.
Sean Peck: Well, we took
the live performance off of how the album was arranged. We still do some add libbing and it is cool
because it makes every show a bit different.
It did take a tremendous amount of work to really get the album
right. Dave Garcia, the guitarist, did a
great job mixing the record and it is nice and smooth.
Harry Conklin:Maybe, I wasn’t involved in the final mixing.

RtM: Did any of the
songs in particular require more of you In terms of vocal’s range or technique?
Sean Peck: Yes we made
the songs all about having great metal hooks and taking it beyond the top
vocally where it made sense. Anyone who
wants the highest most powerful screams is in for a treat on this record. That was the whole point. Ripper did some stuff that blew my mind. I have never heard him do some of the screams
that he did on this record. He really
blew me away. Harry did the same thing
just incredible. I have some of my best
work also on there. I sent the tracks to
the guys to follow and I did not make it easy on them at all ha!! Songs like WHEN THE LAST SCREAM FADES, SPEED
TO BURN, BULLETS FOR THE DAMND, and THE
PIT SHOWS NO MERCY are brutal in the vocal department.
Harry Conklin: No. It was allium and fairly challenging yes, but still a labor of love.
RtM: There are
already several very positive reviews, are these first reactions giving you
good expectations about the success and acceptance of the project? I also
realized that the Pledge Music campaign is going very well.
Sean Peck: Yes for
sure. As you know we have already played
17 shows live and we have experienced the reaction of the crowd to these
songs. They loved all of them as we
played them all every night. The pre
orders have been awesome too, really exceeding expectations. The fans are really embracing it, and once
they see it live it will continue to grow. The fact that it is a live band and not just some one off project I
think adds more validity to it and they know that by supporting it, it will not
just go away one day. This is going to
be around for awhile is how it is shaping up.
We have all kinds of tours and shows planned that will take us well into
2021 even!
Harry Conklin: Yes. The “ pledge music” is going very well and the tour is coming together nicely. The fans have a fantastic show in store for them.
RtM: Talking a
little bit about the songs, we have generous doses of Heavy Metal in its pure
essence, bringing that feeling mainly of great moments of the 80s, of legends
like Judas Priest, Maiden, Saxon etc. In your vision, what elements are
essential for great Heavy Metal music? I also believe that one of the great
secrets is to make songs that you would like to hear.
Sean Peck: I write songs
from a metal fan standpoint. If it rocks
me and gives me goosebumps then I know it will probably do the same for like
minded metal freaks too. This album we
really made it fast and thrashy. It may
be even a little too much for some people to handle ha!! All those bands you named plus stuff like
WASP and Metal Church, Crimson Glory, Savatage, Agent Steel, Exciter stuff like
that really gets me motivated. But this
sort of metal is where all the other sub genres derived from so yes it is the
pure essence as you call it.
Harry Conklin: Heavy beat, razor guitars, strong vocal melodies and super rememberable riffs. All these elements are contained in the 3 Tremors CD.

RtM: Among the
songs that stood out in my ears are tracks that follow a more moderate line,
where I think the three voices stand out more, such as "Sonic
Suicide", "When the Last Scream Fades" and "The Three
Tremors ", for example. I would like you to comment a little more about
them.
Sean Peck: I love those
songs. Sonic suicide has a great hook a
great chorus. It has a real hard rock
vibe to it and the middle part is very heavy metal. When the Last Scream Fades is a super cool
song. I love the intro and outro parts
and the rest of the song is like Painkiller for sure. The Three Tremors was the very last song we
wrote. The riffs were so good we decided
to add one more song on the record. We
close the live show with this song and it is our namesake song so the lyrics
are fun describing the journey of the band.
Harry Conklin: I’m partial to the heavy melodic/slower tempo songs as well but....“The PIT” and “ SPEED TO BURN” are killer songs!

RtM: "Wrath of
Asgard" also follows such a more paced and moderate tempo, and is also one
of my favorites. It has a very epic atmosphere, and I believe it will work very
well live. I would like you to talk a little more about this song.
Sean Peck: Yes this song
really seems to be a fan favorite so far. The thing just rocks, and that main riff is the stuff metal godz are made
of! We have a cool live video for that
coming out soon. That song really gets
the crowd rocking.
Harry: "Wrath of Asgard" is a head banger and very heavy in melody driven riffs. The fans eat this song up! It has every element of a great heavy metal song.
RtM: Among the
fastest tracks, my favorites are "Fly or Die", which reminded me of
Maiden's "Aces High", including the theme of the lyrics, and
"Lust of the Blade", alternating speedy moments with more moderate
ones . Both have great choruses too. I would like you to comment a little more
about these two songs.
Sean Peck: "Fly or Die" everyone is saying it is the new Aces High. I love hearing that! That one is
a really fun one to play live. It always
gets me fired up and pumped. It was cool
to get the real voice of President Roosevelt and his famous speech in there to
create the vibe. Lust of the Blade
really has grown on me. That was one of
the first songs we did and I personally liked it but was not that crazy about
it. Live it goes over really great and
Ripper has that super cool part in the middle where he says “I am the Ripper
they call me by name...” I know writing a song about Jack The Ripper would be
perfect for this band!
Harry: "Fly or Die" is a driver. Very exciting. Fun to sing and fun for the crowd to sing along. It may have an “ Iron Maiden” influence but these are our heroes so why not? “Lust of the Blade” is very dark and cool with a highly rememberable chorus it’s also Tim’s theme song in a way.
RtM: And your
personal preference? I know that it may be difficult to choose, but which songs do you most enjoy singing and that you think will work best live?
Sean Peck: Well I was
really stoked to see that everyone of the songs go over great live. We play all 12 of them every night. I really have a great time doing Fly or Die,
Bullets For The Damned, Speed to Burn and Wrath of asgard for sure.
Harry: Every singer has it cut out for him on this record. My favorite is “The Pit”.
RtM: And in your opinion, you both have been on the road for about three decades, in groups like
Cage and Jag Panzer, who bring in their sonority the roots of style, is there
good new names on the current Metal Scene? What new bands have you heard, and
do you see a future for them?
Sean Peck: Yeah there is
lots of cool stuff out there. The new
group of speed metal bands and thrash metal bands have really been exciting to
see. Newer bands like THEM and STRIKER,
and older dudes who are back like FIFTH ANGEL and FLOTSAM and JETSAM with fresh
new albums have really kept the scene alive and kicking. There are so many new bands out there to
discover it is really a great time for heavy metal.
Harry:I’m sorry I don’t stay up with current trends these days .
RtM: And the latest
releases from giants, for example, like Judas Priest and Saxon, this two has a
newer albums, Iron Maiden and Sabbath? What did you think? And even without
original members, is it good for the scene to have them still producing and
making shows?
Sean Peck: The new Priest
album was great. The last maiden album
was just ok to me. Maiden has not made a
killer new album for decades now since Bruce came back but they really dont
have too because they are Maiden ha! The
new saxon album was killer and I saw them live open for Priest and they kicked
ass. I would love to hear some new stuff
from Tony Iommi again he is the heavy riff master. I have tickets to see Maiden in LA this year, so yes they should all keep rockin!
Harry: Love the production that these albums have. They are fantastic and aggressive. The fact that these bands are still keeping metal strong is amazing. The Three Tremors album is right along with them. Bringing traditional heavy metal to the die hards that are still out there looking for something cool, fresh and aggressive.
RtM: And are bands
with more "modern" sounds contributing or only further segregating
the style, serving much for more market interests, and taking the space of
groups with more quality?
Sean Peck: In music you
have to just play what is in your metal heart and if someone else likes it just
see it as a bonus. People that try to
chase trends and styles will soon find out how very unfulfilling it is to do
that and a big waste of time. Quality in
music is up to the ears of the listener and it is not fair to say what is shit
and what is not. I beleieve that this
style of metal we have delivered on the Three Tremors record is a timeless
sound that 100 years from now some metal heads will still be rocking loud!!
Harry: Music is an expression. It has no boundaries. Stretching the limits of imagination is what it’s all about.

RtM: Finishing, how
is the demand for shows already? Do you think the T3 tour will have a wide
reach? Personally, I'm really looking forward to shows here in South America,
and from what I've seen from readers' interest in the material I posted on Road
to Metal and other vehicles, the odds are great.
Sean Peck: Yes, we are
really excited about getting down there.
Once we have our schedules worked out it looks like that is first on the
list. We have virtually every territory
on the map in our sights and offers coming in. The live show is really amazing and it is a super unique thing. The South American metal fans are going to
love it!

E a lenda urbana dos “The Three
Tremors” se transforma em realidade em uma nova versão. O projeto, que foi
cogitado alguns anos atrás reunindo três grandes vocalistas do Metal, nada
menos que Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford e Geoff Tate (o nome de Dio também fez
parte das especulações), não saiu do papel. Mas a lenda agora ressurgiu, e partindo
da vontade de Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (Cage, Denner/Shermann) em colocar em prática um projeto naqueles moldes,
buscou os outros nomes para completar o trio. (English Version)
Sean então contatou Tim “Ripper”
Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth) e Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin (Jag Panzer, Titan Force), reunindo-se assim 3 vocalistas que também
seguem a linha dos clássicos vocais do projeto original, possuindo uma bagagem
de cerca de 3 décadas e elogiáveis serviços prestados ao cenário
metálico.
Após um ano de árduo trabalho,
que resultou na forja de 12 canções poderosas, algumas nasceram já com aquele
jeito de hino, onde os vocalistas se revezam ou cantam em uníssono durante as
faixas, não só em meros malabarismos vocais para mostrar o poder e extensão de
suas gargantas, mas para interpretar de forma agressiva, técnica e explosiva os
petardos que mixam o Heavy Metal tradicional e o Speed Metal, envoltos em uma
produção atual, mas com a essência intacta.
São 12 faixas empolgantes para
bater cabeça e cantar de punho cerrado! Já fico imaginando esse projeto ao
vivo! Algo que deverá ser bem ensaiado e contar com uma produção muito boa para dar suporte à esse trem-bala que tem a data de 18 de janeiro de 2019 marcada para o lançamento do autointitulado debut, e depois se seguirá a tour mundial. A capa do álbum segue também o estilo clássico, com um desenho dos três vocalista lutando com lobisomens em um mundo caótico. A arte foi assinada por Marc Sasso (Dio, Adrenaline Mob, Halford)
Reza a lenda que o projeto original falhou, não só provavelmente devido a agenda daqueles monstros, mas de como conceber cada canção tendo as três potentes vozes de forma balanceada. Neste quesito o projeto atual teve êxito, com uma ou outra ressalva a alguns exageros vocais, mas nada que comprometa. As faixas alternam momentos mais velozes, sem descanso, com outros mais cadenciados e épicos, e é onde parece que tudo funciona ainda melhor. Mesmo em um álbum bem homogêneo, há algumas que se sobressaem.
Temos as velozes e explosivas “Fly
or Die”, com certeza um dos destaques, uma paulada sem chance para descanso,
com um grande refrão. Há até um certo link com algo da “Aces High”, tanto pelo
andamento, como no tema tratando de guerra (Inclusive há uma intro com um discurso
de Franklin Roosevelt, na clássica canção do Iron Maiden há o discurso de
Churchill); e “The Cause”, outro Speed Metal que não tem dó de nossos pescoços!
Nas faixas onde os andamentos
mais pesados e moderados se sobressaem, residem alguns dos melhores momentos,
onde as raízes da NWOBHM e Metal 80’s em geral estão mais pulsantes do que
nunca. Além disso, parece que favoreceram à uma melhor coesão e destaque às
três vozes.
Você vai vibrar com certeza em
canções como em “Sonic Suicide” e seu ritmo perfeito para bater cabeça; e a
épica “Wrath of Asgard”, tendo mais ênfase nas melodias da guitarra, riffs e refrãos
extremamente empolgantes, daqueles de realmente cantar junto e com punhos
cerrados! Deuses do Metal, preciso ouvir essa ao vivo!
Estão entre minhas favoritas
também o peso e dramaticidade de “When the Last Scream Fades”, que alterna
trechos mais cadenciados a outros mais rápidos, destacando os grandes riffs, bateria massacrante, além do solo com melodia
e velocidade, e “Speed to Burn”, com seu início cadenciado, melodioso e riffs
galopantes, alternando para trechos mais agressivos e velozes, e claro, vocais
altíssimos .
São 12 petardos de Heavy
Metal/Speed Metal onde esses três monstros, juntos à uma excelente banda,
proporcionam um ataque feroz e empolgante, recheado de tudo o que grandes
canções de Heavy Metal não podem prescindir, ou seja, riffs e refrãos fortes,
cozinha trovejante, solos épicos e vocais poderosos. Não costumamos dar nota
aqui, mas este petardo merece um 10, nota máxima no que se propuseram. Mal
posso esperar para ver ao vivo!
