É impossível abordar “Shout”, novo álbum do Hardline, sem revisitar o impacto de “Double Eclipse” (1992), obra que estabeleceu as bases do DNA sonoro da banda. Décadas depois, o grupo liderado por Johnny Gioeli retorna com um trabalho que equilibra, com precisão, nostalgia e contemporaneidade. O resultado é um disco que resgata a força dos refrães marcantes e da identidade melódica clássica do hard rock, agora inseridos em uma produção moderna e atualizada.
O lineup atual reúne Gioeli ao lado dos músicos italianos Alessandro Del Vecchio (teclados), Luca Princiotta (guitarra), Anna Portalupi (baixo) e Marco Di Salvia (bateria), formação que demonstra entrosamento e versatilidade ao longo de todo o álbum.
A faixa-título, “Shout”, abre o disco com imponência. Sua introdução épica conduz a um refrão forte e imediato, evidenciando a potência vocal de Gioeli e uma abordagem instrumental que flerta com elementos mais pesados, próximos ao power metal, sem abandonar a essência hard’n’heavy.
Na sequência, “Rise Up” mantém a intensidade elevada, com andamento acelerado, backing vocals bem construídos e uma performance vocal mais agressiva. A dinâmica entre guitarras limpas e distorcidas adiciona textura e reforça o apelo melódico da faixa.
“It Owns You” evidencia a amplitude de influências do Hardline, transitando com naturalidade entre o hard rock e o heavy metal. Com riffs afiados, solos bem elaborados e variações de andamento, a música demonstra a maturidade técnica e o entrosamento da banda.
O álbum também apresenta uma releitura de “When You Came Into My Life”, originalmente gravada pelo Scorpions em 1996. A versão do Hardline preserva a essência da balada, ao mesmo tempo em que destaca a expressividade vocal de Gioeli e o refinamento instrumental, especialmente nos arranjos de piano e na base rítmica.
Em “Mother Love”, o destaque fica por conta da construção progressiva até um refrão grandioso, apoiado por backing vocals robustos. A música combina peso e sofisticação, com destaque para a ponte e o solo de guitarra, que conduzem com eficiência a retomada do tema principal.
“Rise Above No Fear” subverte expectativas ao iniciar de forma suave e evoluir para uma das faixas mais pesadas do álbum. A combinação entre guitarras e bateria ganha protagonismo, enquanto os teclados assumem papel mais discreto, resultando em uma sonoridade moderna, porém fiel à identidade da banda.
Já “Candy Love” resgata o espírito festivo do hard rock clássico, com forte influência da cena de Los Angeles dos anos 1980. Teclados marcantes, riffs diretos e um refrão de fácil assimilação fazem da faixa um dos momentos mais acessíveis e energéticos do disco.
“I’m Leaning On It” aposta em uma abordagem mais direta e crua, com foco na base de guitarra, baixo e bateria. A performance vocal mais áspera de Gioeli adiciona intensidade, reforçando o caráter mais pesado da composição.
Em “Welcome To The Thunder”, a banda inverte a lógica predominante do álbum ao priorizar elementos do heavy metal, sem abrir mão da estética do hard rock. O resultado é uma faixa robusta, com destaque para a versatilidade vocal de Gioeli, que remete a grandes nomes do gênero.
Encerrando o disco, “Glow” apresenta o momento mais emocional do trabalho. Com temática voltada à perda — tanto de entes queridos quanto de animais de estimação —, a faixa se destaca pela interpretação intensa e sensível de Gioeli. A carga emocional é amplificada por uma execução contida e elegante, que valoriza a mensagem da canção.
Como complemento, a banda planeja incorporar a música às apresentações ao vivo de forma especial, incentivando o público a participar com pulseiras luminosas em homenagem a pessoas e momentos significativos.
Com “Shout”, o Hardline entrega um álbum consistente e bem produzido, que honra seu legado ao mesmo tempo em que se mantém relevante no cenário atual. Trata-se de um trabalho que reforça a identidade da banda e evidencia sua capacidade de evolução sem perder a essência.

It is impossible to approach “Shout”, the new album by Hardline, without revisiting the impact of “Double Eclipse” (1992), the record that defined the band’s sonic DNA. Decades later, the Johnny Gioeli-led outfit returns with a release that carefully balances nostalgia and modernity. The result is an album that revives the band’s trademark melodic sensibility and anthemic choruses, now framed within a contemporary production.
The current lineup features Gioeli alongside Italian musicians Alessandro Del Vecchio (keyboards), Luca Princiotta (guitars), Anna Portalupi (bass) and Marco Di Salvia (drums), a unit that displays strong chemistry and versatility throughout the record.
The title track, “Shout”, sets the tone with authority. Its epic introduction leads into a powerful, instantly memorable chorus, highlighting Gioeli’s commanding vocal performance. Instrumentally, the track leans into a heavier approach, flirting with power metal textures while remaining firmly rooted in hard rock.
“Rise Up” keeps the momentum going with an energetic, up-tempo drive. Tight backing vocals and a more aggressive vocal delivery from Gioeli elevate the track, while the interplay between clean and distorted guitars adds depth and dynamic contrast.
